Diagnosis. This species is distinguished by the following combination of characters: vertical surface of clypeus deeply foveate; pronotal hypomeron carinate; inflexed portion of elytron with basal fovea; metathoracic wings well developed; pygidium with median convexity; parameres with apices conjointly rounded, with small median emargination ( Fig. 179 View Figs ).
Description. Male. Total length 3.2–3.6 mm; greatest width 1.9–2.2 mm. Head. Clypeus not strongly produced anteriorly ( Fig. 177 View Figs ). Clypeal teeth well developed, moderately widely separated, strongly reflexed. Clypeal emargination between teeth evenly rounded; vertical surface broadly V-shaped with deep median fovea. Apical margin of clypeus lateral to teeth convexly arcuate. Disc of clypeus almost flat, moderately finely, densely punctate. Clypeogenal suture present, carinate. Gena not strongly produced, margin obtusely angled near junction with clypeus. Vertex and gena very densely punctate; punctures of medium size. Pronotum. Evenly, moderately convex medially, laterally explanate, shallow depressions laterally in posterior half. Anterior angles slightly acute. Sides anterior and posterior to lateral angles nearly straight. Posterior angles obtusely rounded, not incised. Pronotum densely punctate; punctures of disc moderately fine; laterally punctures large, annulate; setae short, pale. Pronotal hypomeron convex, irregularly, shallowly punctate, with short longitudinal carina posterolaterally. Elytra. Transversely and longitudinally moderately convex; lateral carinae not strongly elevated. Each elytron dorsally with seven striae, each stria indicated by two wavy lines. Elytral intervals slightly convex; each interval with row of fine punctures on each side adjacent to striae; punctures bearing short, strongly arched, pale setae. Inflexed portion of elytron broad, evenly narrowed apically, with minute, scattered punctures; basal fovea present; striae eight and nine absent, ten complete adjacent to margin of epipleuron. Epipleuron with scattered, minute punctures. Wings. Metathoracic wings well developed. Venter. Prosternum with moderately small, shallow punctures. Mesosternum with medium-sized, shallow, annulate punctures. Meso-metasternal suture broadly rounded medially. Metasternum slightly convex medially; narrowed, with minute, scattered punctures anteriorly, moderately small punctures posteriorly; laterally, punctures large, shallow, annulate. Legs. Profemur coarsely, densely punctate ventrally. Protibia ( Fig. 176 View Figs ) weakly broadened medially; preapical notch broad, shallow; strongly produced medially at apex. Mesofemur and metafemur with small, elongate punctures ventrally. Metatrochanter unmodified. Metatibia moderately angulate, finely crenulate medially; with small apical lobe on inner side. Abdomen. Apical sternite with shallow, annulate punctures. Pygidium with moderate median longitudinal convexity; weak basal sulcus with slight median depression. Male genitalia. Parameres ( Figs. 178–179 View Figs ) with apices conjointly rounded, with small median emargination, not setose.
Variation. Female. Total length 3.6 mm; greatest width 2.1 mm. Clypeal teeth more strongly developed. Tibiae unmodified.
Bionomics. This species has been collected from wet leaf litter ( Howden 1973) at elevations between 50 m and 500 m during the months of June–August.
Geographic Distribution ( Fig. 180). This species occurs on the Pacific slope of the Cordillera Occidental of Colombia.
