HOLOTYPE. China. Xishuangbanna : male [ China / Yunnan /Xishuanbanna/ 650 m / 16 October 1958 / S. Wang] ( IZAS).
Description. Male: length 3.3 mm (n = 1); width: 1.7 mm (n = 1). Head: small; punctures small with small, narrow, fuscous scales; anteroventral macula of short, clavate, recumbent, white scales; frons, 0.17 as broad as head across eyes, base with angular carina, clothed with narrow, elongate, testaceous scales. Rostrum: length 1.3 mm (n = 1); 0.39 as long as body; subcylindrical; middorsal carina from frons to antennal insertion, at antennal insertion six small carinae with small punctures and vestiture similar to frons; thickened at base, almost straight, gradually deflected to thick narrower apex; scrobe ventral; scape inserted at midpoint. Antennae: length: scape 0.5 mm; funiculus: segment one 0.2 mm, two 0.1 mm, three 0.05 mm, four 0.05 mm, five 0.05 mm, six 0.05 mm, seven 0.075 mm, club 0.3 mm, funicle 0.58 mm (n = 1); scape 0.86 as long as funicle; funicular segments glabrous; club compact, oval, as long as funicular segments 5–7. Thorax: length 0.9 mm (n = 1); width: 1.4 mm (n = 1); 0.64 as long as broad; disc margins subparallel, punctures small, broad at base, evenly arced to constriction, flat in lateral view, clothed with narrow, elongate, clavate, white scales laterally to middorsal carina with some ferrugineous scales mixed; anteroventral macula of clavate, white scales; mesosternal intercoxal process prominent, clothed with white scales; scutellum small, longer than broad, bifid, clothed with few, small, white scales; mesepimeron, mesepisternum, metepisternum, metasternum and procoxae clothed with white scales. Elytra: length: 2.2 mm (n = 1); striae narrow, deep, with narrow, elongate, testaceous scales; humeri rounded; intervals broad, flat, clothed with clavate, testaceous to ferrugineous scales, short subscutellar vitta of white scales on interval one, fascia of white scales past midpoint; crosshatched setae short, testaceous. Legs: length of hind femur 1.3 mm (n = 1); not reaching apex of abdomen, tooth mediumsized; pro and mesofemoral teeth medium, but smaller than hind tooth; base of all femora broad, derm fuscous, clava moderately large, rubiginous, all femora clothed with clavate, whitish to testaceous scales; tibiae straight, pro, meso and metauncus large. Abdomen: sternite 1 longer than 2 behind coxal cavity, rather deep median declivity; sternite 2 ascending to 3; sternite 3 longer than 4; sternites 3 and 4 longer than 5 combined; 5 with mid central declivity; all sternites clothed with clavate, whitish scales. Pygidium : small, with short testaceous setalike scales. Genitalia: not dissected.
Remarks. Can be separated from species in the group by short rostrum and oval shape with base of thorax almost as broad as base of elytra in dorsal view.
Etymology. Named in honor of the senior author’s granddaughter Janette Weber.
