Basionym: Anabaenopsis philippinensis W.R.Taylor View in CoL (1932: 462, pl. XL, figs. 1–7)

Strains:— CHAB 5180 and CHAB 5182 from Lake Dongqian in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province.

Habitat:— In reservoirs and lakes, planktonic.

Description:— Trichomes solitary, free floating, intensely spirally to screw-like coiled, slightly and shortly tapering towards ends, not or slightly constricted at the cross-walls ( Fig. 1H–L View FIGURE 1 ). Cells cylindrical, slightly attenuated towards the ends, 5.2–9.7–22.5 μm long, 2.1–3.1–4.0 μm wide (L:W ratio 1.4–3.2–6.7), apical cells shortly narrowed and pointed-rounded. Heterocytes drop-like to conical pointed-rounded at the end, elongated and usually curved, 5.4– 7.9–12.4 μm long, 2.2–3.4–5.2 μm wide (L:W ratio 1.5–2.4–3.9). Akinetes cylindrical, rounded at the ends, sometimes curved, 6.1–11.4–20.7 μm long, 3.1–4.6–6.3 μm wide (L:W ratio 1.5–2.6–5.4) ( Table S4).

Notes:— C. philippinensis was diagnosed as its intensely spiraled to screw-like coiled trichomes, apical cells shortly narrowed and pointed rounded at the ends, and heterocytes drop-like to conical with pointed-rounded ends.
