TYPE SPECIES: Leioproctus (Leioproctus) nasutus Houston, 1990 .

DIAGNOSIS: This genus is most distinctive for the prominently protudent clypeus, along with the combination of a coarsely pectinate inner metatibial spur in females, the protibial calcar lacking a malus, the protarsi of males expanded and flatened, flagellomere I about as long as wide and not much different from the pedicel, the integument black (not metallic), metanotum without medial tubercle, propodeum with sloping subhorizontal area that is as long as the metanotum, and the head and mesosoma with small punctures and the integument between typically finely coriaceous. A full account of the sole included species was given by Houston (1990).

ETYMOLOGY: The new generic name is a combination of Cyrano, from the surname of Savinien de Cyrano de Bergerac (1619–1655), and kollitís (κολλητής, meaning, "gluer" or "one who glues"). The name plays on the fictionalized tale of Cyrano and his prodigious nose and the protrudent clypeus of the type species. The gender of the name is masculine.
