≡ Nectandra euxina Kolakovsky (1964: 108) ≡ Ocotea euxina (Kolakovsky) Imchanitzkaja (1975: 24) —‘ Nectandra euxina ’ Kolakovsky (1958: 273) , nom. invalid. (Art. 40.1).

Type:—[fossil leaves] Kodor (Kodori or Kwydry) river, Abkhazia (holotype, V-1921, Sukhum Botanical Garden, Sukhum, Abkhazia, n.v.).

Occurrence:—Pliocene; Caucasus.

Note:—The fossil-species ‘ Nectandra euxina ’ Kolakovsky (1958: 273) was not validly published, since the author did not designate the type ( ICN, Art. 40.1), based the description on several leaf imprints (Coll. III-1921; IIIа-2701) [publication delayed: not published in 1957, but in 1958 when the requirements of the type designation of ICN was in effect]. The fossil-species was validated later by Kolakovsky (1964: 108). The structure of the leaf epidermis of the fossil-species is similar with that of several extant Damburneya species ( Schakryl 1965), viz. D. coriacea (Sweet) Trofimov & Rohwer (in Trofimov et al. 2016: 989) and D. patens (Sweet) Trofimov (in Trofimov et al. 2016: 991), a genus which has been recently reinstated in the Lauraceae taxonomy ( Trofimov et al. 2016).
