Diagnosis of Female ( Plate C2P View PLATE 2 ). This species can be recognized by the following unique combination of characters: neither the antennal scrobe nor the gena are carinate, the mesosoma is longer than broad, a scutellar scale is present, and the head, mesosoma, and posterior face of the propodeum are all clothed with conspicuous silver setae. The posterior face of the propodeum is densely clothed with setae.
Male. Unknown.
Distribution. USA (Minnesota, North Dakota, south to Texas and New Mexico); Canada (west to Alberta and British Columbia); Mexico (Tamaulipas).
Remarks. This is an extremely common species throughout its relatively broad range. Hundreds of specimens have been examined from throughout its range. It is known only from the female, although D. monticola might be the male of this species.
