= Diplazium yungense Christ & Rosenst., Repert. View in CoL Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. 5: 233. 1908.

Range: —Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia (CO, LP, SC); southeastern Brazil.

Ecology: —Fairly common; terrestrial in humid forests, often on stream banks; 2000–3000 m.

Notes: —Fée published both D. rostratum and D. remotum , types from southeastern Brazil, simultaneously. Cislinski (1996), on the basis of the original descriptions and illustrations and without seeing the types, opted to adopt the former name over the latter, in spite of the fact that D. remotum had generally been used for this species in neotropical floras; in the absence of contrary evidence, we follow her in this choice.

The rachial and costal scales of D. rostratum suggest a possible relationship with D. andinum and D. pinnatifidum , but these have anastomosing veins. This species has been shown to have apogamous reproduction ( Dopp 1932).
