Dipoena esra Levi, 1963: 161 , figs. 119–121 (Female holotype from Tingo María, Huánuco, Peru; 08.X.1946; J. C. Pallister col.; deposited in American Museum of Natural History, New York, not examined); Platnick, 2013.
Diagnosis. The male palp of Dipoena esra differs from other species of the genus in the the theridioid tegular apophysis ( Fig. 37 View FIGURES 34 – 40 ) longer, with developed ventral projection.
Description. Male (MCN 39148): Total length 1.63. Carapace length 0.79, width 0.71. Clypeus height 0.63. Sternum length 0.39, width 0.37. Abdomen length 0.73, width 0.92, height 0.90. Leg formula I/IV/II/III; segment length (I/II/III/IV): femora 0.71/0.63/0.54/0.71; patellae + tibiae 0.75/0.65/0.56/0.75; metatarsi + tarsi 0.65/0.60/ 0.56/0.63; total 2.11/1.88/1.66/2.09. Eye diameter and interdistance: AME 0.10, ALE 0.05, PME 0.06 and PLE 0.05; AME–AME 0.06, AME–ALE 0.02, PME–PME 0.05, PME–PLE 0.07. Eyes ( Fig. 38 View FIGURES 34 – 40 ) with dark borders. Carapace high ( Fig. 39 View FIGURES 34 – 40 ), with grooves ( Fig. 38 View FIGURES 34 – 40 ), yellow, darkened in median portion, with macrosetae. Sternum, endites and labium yellow. Legs ( Fig. 40 View FIGURES 34 – 40 ) yellow, femora with darkened rings, metatarsi covered with dark brown dots. Patellae and tibiae with two dorsal macrosetae. Femur I ( Figs. 40 View FIGURES 34 – 40 ) and II swollen proximally. Abdomen with macrosetae ( Figs. 38, 39 View FIGURES 34 – 40 ), dorsum yellow-white, sides dark brown and venter yellow with longitudinal darkened spot. Spinnerets yellow.
Female. Described by Levi (1963: 161; figs. 119–121).
Variation. Males (n=3). Total length 1.40–1.70; carapace length 0.58–0.81; femur I 0.69–0.73. Abdomen color pattern from yellow-white, yellow to dark brown.
Remarks. Males and females were collected together in various localities in Brazil.
Material examined. BRAZIL. Amazonas: Coari, Base de Operações Geólogo P. de Moura, Porto Urucu (04°51’56”S; 65° 20’02”W), IX. 2006, C. A. C. Santos Jr. col., two females (MCN 45006); D. F. Candiani col., one male (MCN 45007). Pará: Almeirin, Reserva do Pacanari, Monte Dourado (0°51’55”S; 52°32’22”W), 17.II.2003, J. A. P. Barreiros col., one male, one female (MCN 39148); D. D. Guimarães col., one male, one female (MCN 39158).
Distribution. Peru (Huánuco) and Brazil (Amazonas and Pará).
