Dissomphalus subpilosus Azevedo, 1999a: 354 –355 (♂, holotype from Brazil).
Diagnosis. Male. Dark castaneous. Mandible with three apical teeth. Clypeus flat, tridentate, median carina incomplete. Front coriaceous. Vertex slightly convex. T2 vertical, very shallow depression, occupying median third, width and of length of tergite, distant from anterior margin, pair rounded, very large tufts densely covered by short hairs, far from each other 0.75 × own diameter, surrounded by some hairs inward, longer than those, tufts, tergite with median longitudinal band of hairs posteriorly tuft. Genitalia: paramere with apex oblique-truncate; aedeagal ventral ramus conspicuous, smaller than dorsal body, margins smooth, parallel, apex oblique-truncate, corner rounded, laminar, surfaces subhorizontal, divergent laterally, downward; aedeagal dorsal body with two pairs of lobes, outer large, ventral margin smooth, narrowing apically, dorsal margin much produced inward basally, surfaces subvertical, somewhat divergent ventrally, very concave internally, inner lobe small, inner margin serrated up to apex, dorsal smooth, inner surface densely hairy, somewhat convex. Female unknown.
Variations. The main variation found in this series is the metasomal tergal process with the depression semicircular or circular.
Remarks. This species was previously known from Brazil (Ceará) and Bolivia ( Azevedo 1999a). Now, one more male has been found in Ceará. In this series the specimens are quite similar to those previously studied, without any variation that is worthy of mention.
