Species recognition. This species is easily recognized by the double row of peglike setae on a narrow lobe and the sharply pointed processes around the ventral concavity.
Description. Body length: 2.5–2.72 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 rounded-oval, brown. Palpus of normal size, orange. Thorax: Scutum light brown. Scutellum brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta three-quarters length of posterior seta. Pleuron whitish-yellow ventrally to light brown dorsally; dorsum of anepisternum with brown spot. Mean costal length 0.48 wing length. Halter light brown. Legs yellowish-brown, except apex of hind femur dark brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellow. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa dark brown. Hind coxa yellowish-brown. Hind coxal lobe light brown, short, truncate. Posterior face of hind femur with basal peglike setae in double row on elongate lobe over large concavity; concavity with two dorsal pointed processes; ventral margin with basally-directed, sharply pointed process; anterior face with several long ventral setae ( Figs 179–180). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 dark brown with yellow posterior and lateral margins, tergites 2–6 dark brown, with yellow anterior and posterior margins. Venter of abdomen yellow, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia dark brown, except cercus yellow.
Distribution. Middle to upper elevations in Colombia.
Derivation of specific epithet. Latin for pointed, referring to the sharply pointed processes on the hind femur.
