Wing. Light brown, slightly hyaline; wing base and veins brown, basicosta black, costal spine developed and longer than length of r-m crossvein, Sc straight; R4+5 and M veins parallel, more or less separated distally; m-m crossvein curved in the middle, veins bare except dorsal surface of C vein with distinct short spine; calypters brown, margins brown, halter dark brown.

Legs. Entirely black; fore tibia with a row of small ad, 3 pv in the middle; mid femur with complete av and pv rows, which become shorter towards apex, mid tibia with 4–5 av, 3–4 ad, a row of about 5–6 p, and 4– 5 pv; hind femur with a complete av row, and about 9–10 setae in pv row thin and long, which become shorter towards apex, without median p; hind tibia with 6–7 av, 1 thin pv row, ad row irregular and with 3–4 longer and stronger setae in the row; with 5–6 pd; without apical ventral projection; claws and pulvilli of all legs longer than 5th tarsomere.

Abdomen. Black, long and egg-shaped, with olive green metallic luster and with grey pruinosity, all tergites with indistinct lateral patch, posterior marginal setae long and large, sternite 1 bare; outboard processes of cerci very blunt and distal 1/3 broad in posterior view; processes on inner margin of surstylus pointed in the middle in lateral view.

Female. Body length 6.5–7.5 mm. Type material

Holotype, male, P.R. CHINA: Qinghai, Yushu County, Batang, 3900–4300 m, 16–22.vi.1964 (Shu-yong Wang).

Paratypes, P.R. CHINA: 10 males, 11 females, the same data as holotype. Allotype, P.R. CHINA: 1 female, same data as holotype. The specimens are deposited in the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China

Remarks

This species is close to Drymeia aeneoventrosa (Fan, Jin and Wu) , but differs from it by the presence of a conspicuous row of comb-like spines on C vein, with 1 strong pra, notopleuron with hairs, calypters brown or yellowish, different from color of their margins, mid femur with a complete row of av.

Etymology

The species name is from the Latin words spin- meaning spine and costa meaning brim, referring to the anterior margin of C vein in the male that has a conspicuous row of comb-like spines.
