Empoascanara (E.) longiaedeaga View in CoL sp. nov. ( Figs 8–15 View FIGURES 8–15 )
Description: Vertex orange yellow, with large irregular black patch in middle of anterior margin ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8–15 ). Coronal suture distinct, longer than half of vertex median length ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8–15 ). Eyes black ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8–15 ). Pronotum orange red, with median and posterior margin dark ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8–15 ). Scutellum orange red ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8–15 ). Forewing semitransparent, light brown.
Abdominal apodemes ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 8–15 ) small, little exceeding hind margin of 3rd sternite.
Male genitalia: Pygofer lobe broad, with microtrichia distinct ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 8–15 ). Pygofer dorsal appendage long and large, hook-like at apex ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 8–15 ). Subgenital plate broadened basally, provided with 3 long macrosetae on lateral surface, several rigid setae forming continuous row along upper margin ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 8–15 ). Style truncate at apex, preapical lobe distinct ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 8–15 ). Aedeagal shaft long and slender, with single slim apical process extended dorsally ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 8–15 ). Preatrium short; dorsal apodeme long, swollen at apex ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 8–15 ). Gonopore apical on ventral surface ( Figs 13, 14 View FIGURES 8–15 ). Specimen examined: Holotype: ♂, CHINA, Yunnan Prov., Menghai , 23 VII 2008, coll. Yuehua Song. Paratype: 1♂, CHINA, Yunnan Prov., Menghai , 23 VII 2008, coll. Xiaohong Jiang.
Measurement: Body length ♂ 2.5~2.6 mm.
Remarks: This species resembles E. (E.) dwukropka Dworakowska 1980 , but differs in having the pygofer dorsal appendage well developed, hook-like apically; the connective with stem large and broad; amd the vertex with a large irregular black preapical patch medially. It also resembles E. (E.) benigna Dworakowska 1979 and E. (E.) coreca Dworakowska 1971 . The former ( E. benigna ) differs in having the pygofer dorsal appendage bifurcate apically and the dorsal apodeme not obviously expanded at apex in lateral view; and the latter ( E. coreca ) differs in having the preatrium longer, extended dorsally and the dorsal apodeme not obviously expanded at apex in lateral view.
Etymology: The specific name is derived from the Latin prefix “ longi -” and “ aedeaga ”, which refers to the aedeagus extremely long.
