Status at New Ireland. New record, based on NTUM 11209 (1 specimen, 29.6 mm SL, St. CP 4456-3, northeast of Bangatang), and NTUM 11302 (1 specimen, 38.6 mm SL, St. CP 4489-20, northwest of New Hanover ).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Red Sea, East Africa, Comores and western Mascarenes east to New Britain ( Papua New Guinea), north to southern Japan, south to Western Australia and Queensland ( Australia). Found above hard substrate, 18–383 m depth. Marine.
