( Figs 51−54 View FIGURES 51 − 54. 51 − 54 )
Description. Female. Body length about 1.6 mm. Body ( Fig. 51 View FIGURES 51 − 54. 51 − 54 ) dark brown with a metallic green-blue sheen; mesoscutum with emerald-green metallic reflections, scutellum darker than mesoscutum, with goldenpurplish metallic reflections; antenna dark brown except F5 and F6 yellow; fore wing infuscate as in Fig. 53 View FIGURES 51 − 54. 51 − 54 ; all legs including coxae dark brown except base of mid femur, apices of all tibiae and all tarsi yellowish. Head. Frontovertex at anterior ocellus a little more than 1/4 head width; ocelli forming an angle of about 50º; posterior ocellus separated from inner eye margin by at most 1/3 its own diameter, and from occipital margin by twice its own diameter; antenna ( Fig. 52 View FIGURES 51 − 54. 51 − 54 ) with scape about 2.6 × as long as broad; F1−F3 subquadrate or slightly wider than long, F4−F6 quadrate; clava 3-segmented, apically rounded; mandible with two teeth and an upper truncation.
Thorax. Mesoscutum scaly reticulate; scutellum with same sculpture and hardly deeper than on mesoscutum, except smooth posteriorly; fore wing about 2.4× as long as broad, with a distinct infuscate pattern as in Fig. 53 View FIGURES 51 − 54. 51 − 54 ; marginal vein twice as long as broad, postmarginal vein well developed and about as long as marginal vein; stigmal vein almost the same length as marginal vein.
Gaster. Gaster ( Fig. 54 View FIGURES 51 − 54. 51 − 54 ) about as long as thorax; cercal plates located in the basal 1/5 of gaster; ovipositor sheaths slightly exserted, by about 1/8 gaster length.
Relative measurements. MT 63, OL 70, GL 18.
Male. Unknown.
Host. Chionaspis sp.
Distribution. China (Hianan, Yunnan).
Holotype. Ψ ( IZCAS), CHINA: Hianan, Jianfeng Mt., 24.v.1964, ex. Chionaspis sp., coll. D.X. Liao.
Paratypes. China: same data as holotype (10 ΨΨ); Yunnan, Xishuangbanna, 24.vii.2008, coll. G. Zheng (1 Ψ).
Comments. Epitetracnemus bandus differs from all known species of Epitetracnemus by the following: scutellum with sculpture hardly deeper than mesoscutum; fore wing with postmarginal vein as long as stigmal vein and fore wing infuscated as in Fig. 53 View FIGURES 51 − 54. 51 − 54 . Other than these three features, this species shows many character states in common with other members of the genus, such as head shape, facial impression with a transverse line of silvery white setae at the top of the antennal scrobes and its mandible with two teeth and an upper truncation. Therefore, we believe it is best placed in Epitetracnemus .
