Eumerus delicatae Rondani, 1850 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1850a: 120 (key), 127 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in insula Melita … in colle ditionis parmensis [ Malta Island … Parmese hill ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype ( MZUF: Box 4): Eumerus Mgn / pulchellus Lw. delicatae Rnd. , Melita / 145.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Eumerus pulchellus Loew, 1848 View in CoL ( Peck 1988: 161, Belcari et al. 1995a: 16).
REMARKS: Rondani (1850a: 127) described both sexes of Eumerus delicatae without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths: “ Frequens in insula Melita; a Dom. Antonio Schembri … collectus, … Foeminam semel legi ego quoque in colle ditionis parmensis [Common in Malta Island; collected by Mr. Antonio Schembri, once I collected the female in Parmese hill]”. Rondani attributed the species name to Schembri. We found one male syntype in this study. The female type was not found and is presumed lost.
