Eurosphalmus (Eurosphalmus) cribrarius (Białooki & Szypuła, 2007) View in CoL , comb. n.
Brachysomus cribrarius Białooki & Szypuła in Białooki, 2007: 158. Type locality: Bulgaria, vicinity of Razgrad
Remarks. This species was described in the genus Brachysomus , subgenus Hippomias , but it clearly differs from all known species in the genus Brachysomus in body shape and the structure of the male and female genitalia. It shares the following synapomorphies of Eurosphalmus : 1) aedeagus with distinct subapical lobes, 2) median lobe membranous ventrally, extremely short, 0.3x as long as apodemes length, 3) ventral membranes strongly projecting from aedeagus contour, 4) spermatheca with collum reduced and ramus very large. These synapomorphies justify the transfer of B. cribrarius to the genus Eurosphalmus . At 1.8-2.3 mm it is the smallest known species of the genus Eurosphalmus .
Type material. Holotype ♂ (UWCP): ‘23–24.05.2005, Bulgaria; 43°29′N 26°39′E; 11 km SE Razgrad, h=310 m a.s.l.; leg J. Szypuła / HOLOTYPE; Brachysomus cribrarius sp. n.; des. Biał.[ooki] et Szyp.[uła] 2007. Paratype: 1♀ (UWCP) ‘23–24.05.2005, Bulgaria; 43°29′N 26°39′E; 11 km SE Razgrad, h=310 m a.s.l.; leg J. Szypuła / PARATYPE; Brachysomus cribrarius sp. n.; des.
