Exochomus townsendi Casey, 1908 ( Coccinellinae : Chilocorini )
WYOMING: Albany County, Laramie, 5 mi. N, 1984, Tim Christiansen. New state record. Exochomus townsendi is recorded from four locales in Colorado and from Chihuahua, Mexico ( Gordon 1974). Thus, this record represents the northernmost collection of E. townsendi . Records of E. townsendi in Colorado and now southeastern Wyoming are sympatric with the southeastern distribution of Exochomus aethiops (Bland) , a morphologically similar species ( Gordon 1985). The specimen of E. townsendi from Wyoming differs morphologically from E. aethiops in having the epipleuron less strongly descending, lateral elytral margin less explanate, and lateral margins of the pronotum and elytra appearing continuous ( Gordon 1974).
