Flowering time: — March–April.

Habitat: — Scrubs, meadows, under forest, wet places, 120–1700 m.

Distribution: — Euro-Siberian element. Turkey (North-west Anatolia and Turkey in Europe), from Central European Russia to all Europe, Morocco ( Govaerts 2015).

Note: — Gagea pratensis is prominently distinguished from the other species by having new bulb forming outside the tunic of the old bulb and without tunic, two opposite cauline leaves and presence of green tepals in the fruit.
