Type information:— N. W. HIMALAYA. Bodyar Jaunsar, 8–9,000 ft.; on the northern slopes in very shady woods of Fir and Deodar on the roots of wild Rasp-berry ( Rubus niveus ); very scare, Gleadow! Gamble! Duthie! Duthie’s collectors!
Lectotype (designated here):— INDIA. Uttar Pradesh: North-west Himalayas, Jaunusar, Bodyar (on the northern slopes in very shady woods of Fir and Deodar ), 8–9,000 ft., June 1898, J. S. Gamble 26949- K! ( K000999865 ); Isolectotypes-K! ( K000999866 ); CAL! (Acc. No. 329959).
Note:—According to the protologue, the type collection consists of several elements collected by different collectors. While scrutinizing the original materials of the species, the author could trace only the collection (three sheets) of J.S. Gamble (collection no. 26949) housed in CAL (1 sheet, Acc. No. 329959) and K (2 sheets, with barcodes-K000999865 and K000999866). The sheet deposited in K with barcode K000999865 has been selected as the lectotype. The specimen selected has intact habit apparently showing the key characters of the species viz. ovate or oblong leaves, 1–1.5 cm long, 0.6–0.8 cm wide, 3- to several pedicelate flowers clustered at stem apex, obovate bract, to 2.5 cm long pedicel, spatulate-oblanceolate bracteoles 1.7–2.5 cm long, 0.4–0.7 cm wide, tubular-campanulate calyx funnelform upward, much shorter than corolla, to 1.8 cm in diam., along with the host plant mounted on the herbarium sheet which agree with the protologue.
