Redescription. FEMALE. Apterous ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ); length 2.2–4.1 mm. Head testaceous-reddish, occasionally darkened; antenna totally testaceous, occasionally brown, except segments 1–2 or 1–3 and 10 testaceous; mesosoma testaceous-reddish, occasionally darkened; metasoma testaceous-reddish or brown; legs testaceous, occasionally except coxae and clubs of femora darkened. Antenna clavate; antennal segments in following proportions: 11:7:18:11:9:7:7:7:6:10. Head ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ) excavated, shiny, unsculptured; frontal line complete; occipital carina very shortly present behind posterior ocelli; POL = 1.5; OL = 2; OOL = 9; greatest breadth of posterior ocellus shorter than OL (1:2). Palpal formula 2/2. Pronotum ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ) not crossed by transverse furrow or very slightly transversely impressed, shiny, hairless, unsculptured. Scutum shiny, sculptured by slight longitudinal striae, without lateral pointed apophyses. Metanotum shiny, transversely striate or unsculptured, not hollow behind scutellum, with sides protruding; lateral protrusions rounded ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ). Meso- and metapleuron transversely striate, occasionally not striate. Meso-metapleural suture obsolete. Metathorax + propodeum shiny, with posterior surface transversely striate (occasionally not striate); anterior surface shiny, unsculptured. Protarsal segments in following proportions: 13:2:3:8:15. Enlarged claw ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ) with one large subapical tooth and one row of 4–5 lamellae. Segment 5 of protarsus ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ) with two rows of about 8–9 lamellae; distal apex with about 5–9 lamellae. Tibial spurs 1/0/1.
MALE. Fully winged; length 2.0–3.4 mm. Head black or brown, occasionally reddish; antenna brown, occasionally testaceous; mesosoma black, occasionally reddish; metasoma black, or brown, or reddish; legs testaceous, except metacoxa darkened. Antenna filiform, with segment 3 more than three times as long as broad (about 4.8); antennal segments in following proportions: 8:6:12:12:12:12:11:11:10:12. Head hairy, shiny, strongly punctate, occasionally unsculptured; occipital carina absent; POL = 7; OL = 4; OOL = 4; greatest breadth of posterior ocellus shorter than OL (3:4); temple distinct. Palpal formula 2/2. Scutum shiny, granulated. Notauli complete, posteriorly joint. Scutellum and metanotum shiny, finely punctate, unsculptured among punctures. Propodeum reticulate rugose. Forewing hyaline, without dark transverse bands. Dorsal process of paramere ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ) long and with numerous papillae on distal half. Tibial spurs 1/1/2.
Hosts. Delphacidae ( Guglielmino et al. 2013) : in New Zealand: Nilaparvata myersi Muir and Sulix tasmani (Muir) (this record was attributed by mistake to Gonatopus zealandicus Olmi by Valentine & Walker (1991)).
