COMMON NAME (S): Zambezi Emperor Moth or Edible caterpillars (“Mumpa”, “Finamiembe”, and “Finamwenge” in “Bemba”, a Zambian local language).

SYNONYM(S): Thyella zambesia Felder, 1874 ; Saturnia said Oberth ̧r, 1878; Antheraea barcas Maassen & Weymer, 1881 ; Nudaurelia ringleri Wichgraf, 1906 ; Thyella rectilinea Oberth ̧r, 1910b; Thyella zanguebarica Oberth ̧r, 1910b.

IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).

DISTRIBUTION: Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Victoria Falls Region, in Southern Province ; Mansa, in Luapula Province ; Kopa **, in Mpika, Muchinga Province ; Kasama, in Northern Province ; Lusaka , in Lusaka Province.

LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Larval foodplants include: one Anacardiaceae species ( Mangifera sp. ), one Apocynaceae species ( Nerium oleander L.), one Fabaceae species ( Poinciana sp. ) and one Ebenaceae species ( Diospyros mespiliformis

Hochst. ex A.DC.) in South Africa; one Ebenaceae species ( Diospyros mespiliformis Hochst. ex A.DC. )

in Namibia ( Oberprieler 1995) View in CoL and; three Anacardiaceae View in CoL species ( Rhus sp. , Ozoroa mucronata (Bernh.)

R. Fern. & A. Fern. and Schinus molle View in CoL L.), one Rosaceae View in CoL species ( Prunus spp. ), two Fabaceae View in CoL species
