Type-locality: Grasseichthys gabonensis – “ Tributary of Ntsimy River , near Nzingmeyong, Ivindo basin, Gabon ”. Holotype: MNHN 1967-0442. Distribution and remarks: known from scattered localities in the Ivindo and the larger Ogowe Basin of Gabon; reports from the central Congo Basin refer to another species. Observed in the Komo Basin (Fermon, pers. obs.).
