Remarks: This is a frequently reported species described for the first time from the marine water pumping system at the Marine Biological Station in Roscoff, France. Later it was reported from intertidal and subtidal localities (including marine caves) mainly in the Mediterranean basin, but also from a few localities in the Indian Ocean. It has been reported from different types of sand and detritus.
