Diagnosis. This species is extremely similar in external characters including apical spur of protibia not dentate at margins (Fig. 1) to H. indicus , but differs from it in greater number (four, more rarely three or five) of setigerous pores along posterior margin of metafemur and in structure of median lobe of aedeagus with a much shorter basal field “ a ” and with a peculiar medial folded formation “ c ” in the internal sac ( Figs 72–77, 80–81 View FIGURES 72 – 81 ); some specimens have a medial spiny patch in the internal sac ( Figs 78–79 View FIGURES 72 – 81 ). In addition, mesotarsomere 1 of male of H. hauserianus lacks adhesive vestiture underneath in contrast to that of H. indicus orientalis , which has such vestiture apically. Body length 9.2–12.9 mm.
Distribution. Known only from China: mainly the south-western part (Xizang, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, and Henan). The species is recorded here from Xizang and Guizhou for the first time.
Remarks. In the original description of H. hauserianus, Schauberger (1929) did not mention any specimen of the type series as a type. Thence, based on the article 74.5 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature ( ICZN 1999), the subsequent erroneous treatment of the male from "Yun-nan-sen" as a holotype by Gusenleitner (1990) should be considered as a valid lectotype designation ( Kataev 2001), because this specimen was selected from the type series and all other specimens of this series were mentioned by him as paratypes.
The status and distinctive characters of H. hauserianus were discussed by Kataev (2001). Based on the original description of H. disaogashimensis , he also proposed that this taxon seems to be conspecific with H. hauserianus . A more recent examination of the type series of H. disaogashimensis confirmed this proposition. Thus we treat the latter taxon as a junior synonym of H. hauserianus .
