9. Henriettea ovata (Cogn.) Penneys, Michelangeli, Judd & Almeda (2010: 178) View in CoL .

Basionym: Henriettella ovata Cogniaux (1888: 540) .

Type:— “Habitat in Brasilia Centrali ad Sertao d’Amaroleité”, September-October 1844, M.A. Weddell 2735 (lectotype: P01818621!, first-step designated by Wurdack & Renner (1993), second-step designated here; isolectotypes: BR0000005188628!, P01818622!, P01818623!).

= Henriettella micrantha Gleason (1931: 414) .

Type:— “ Venezuela, Esmeralda ”, August 1928 - April 1929, G.H.H. Tate 953 (holotype: NY00228633 !; isotype: US00123739!) .

= Henriettella longistyla Ule (1915: 366) .

Type:— Brazil “ In Einem Capão bei S. Marcos am Rio Branco, December 1908, E.H.G. Ule 7844 (lectotype: K000537071!, designated here; isolectotypes: B† [photograph F17257!], MG12938 !) .

Wurdack & Renner (1993) state that the holotype was deposited at P, but there are three specimens of this collection at this herbarium. In agreement with Art. 9.10 and 9.17 of the ICN ( Turland et al. 2018), the indication of Wurdack & Renner (1993) is the first-step in the lectotypification. All the specimens found at P are labelled with locality information, collector name and number, as well as the species name handwritten by Cogniaux. Here we conclude the second-step of the lectotypification, electing the specimen P01818621 as lectotype, because it includes the largest number of well-preserved flowers attached to the branch, and is probably the material utilized for the illustration (Tabula CXV) cited in the protologue, considering the resemblance of the vegetative and reproductive structures.

Ule (1915) described H. longistyla , based on his collection Ule 7844 carried out in Brazil, in 1908, but without stating the herbarium where the specimen was deposited. It can be presumed that the German botanist E.H.G. Ule deposited this specimen at B during his work as an assistant at the Berlin Herbarium, and that it was probably destroyed during the Second World War. Duplicates of this collection were found in MG and K, and, in the absence of a specimen in B or HBG (see Borges et al. 2018), the specimen K000537071 is selected as lectotype, as it is the best preserved sheet and presents more abundant flowering material.
