Diagnosis (female) Abdominal segments 3–6 with pair of lateral linear spiracle openings over the tergites ( Figs 8, 9, 11 View FIGURES 4–13 ), sternite 8 apically bilobed ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 14–19 ), general body color yellowish-brown ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ). (male) general body color yellowish-brown.

Geographical distribution. Widespread in the South, Central and East of the US (Arizona, Connecticut, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia) with records also from the Montana State and from the great lakes region in Canada.
Comments. The holotype is in good conditions and all the relevant information for the species diagnosis could be checked in it, including the shape of the sternite 8 apex. Hirotophora multiseriata phallus differs from the other species by its epiphallus with sharp single-pointed scales ( Figs 40–41 View FIGURES 36–41 ).
