Pachycephala Fairmaire 1883: 4 (junior homonym of Pachycephala Vigors, 1825 as noted by Fairmaire 1886: 32). Type species (by original monotypy): Pachycephala termitiformis Fairmaire, 1883 .

Holocephala Fairmaire 1886: 32 (valid, replacement name for Pachycephala Fairmaire, 1883 , senior subjective synonym of Shoguna Lewis, 1889 , senior objective synonym of Shogunopsis Fauvel, 1903). Type species (fixed by autotypy): Pachycephala termitiformis Fairmaire, 1883 .
