Description. Total length: 7.0– 11.7 mm. Width across humeral calli: 1.0– 1.8 mm. Body dark red-brown with a darker discal area on elytra. Habitus of types: Figs 8–9 View FIGURES 8 – 11 .

Head broader than long. Metarostrum, mesorostrum and prorostrum of male smooth; whitish pubescent area of female narrow ( Fig. 35 View FIGURES 35 – 47 ) and running from the base of head to the base of prorostrum. Prorostrum 0.35– 0.45 as long as head + metarostrum + mesorostrum. Antennomere 3 conical, slightly longer than broad ( Fig. 37 View FIGURES 35 – 47 ); following ones as long as broad, almost cylindrical and glabrous; antennomeres 9–10 longer than broad, 11th 1.5–1.7 as long as 10th.

Pronotum shiny, with numerous coarse punctures at base and on sides. Prosternellum not distinct. Metasternum convex, longitudinally grooved. Meso- and metafemora with few thick setae on the underside but much less numerous than on profemora. Base of elytra slightly concave; interstriae 1, 4 and 5–7 forming small raised tubercles at base; interstria 2 not as raised as 1 and 3; interstria 3 strongly raised but depressed after the first quarter; interstria 8 beginning before the first half of elytra but never reaching the base; interstria 9 forming the external apical border of elytra; both sexes with a median blunt tooth on the inner border of apical "forceps" ( Figs 39–40 View FIGURES 35 – 47 ). First segment of metatarsi ( Fig. 38 View FIGURES 35 – 47 ) longer than the two following ones together.

Sternites III–IV of abdomen ( Fig. 41 View FIGURES 35 – 47 ) quite convex with few coarse punctures on sides and on posterior margin of sternite IV; sternites V–VI with few coarse punctures, without basal notches; basal notch of sternite VII sometimes hardly distinct. Apex of tergite VII of female notched ( Fig. 42 View FIGURES 35 – 47 ); tergite VIII of female ( Fig. 47 View FIGURES 35 – 47 ) weakly denticulate. Gonopods IX: Fig. 45 View FIGURES 35 – 47 . Spermatheca: Fig. 46 View FIGURES 35 – 47 . Spiculum gastrale: Fig. 43 View FIGURES 35 – 47 ; tegmen: Fig. 44 View FIGURES 35 – 47 .

Remarks. This species is also cited from Myanmar ( Sforzi & Bartolozzi, 2004). Records from New Guinea and adjacent islands are erroneous as already explained by Damoiseau (1987) and Sforzi & Bartolozzi (2004). Distribution map: Fig. 98.
