( Fig. 1C View FIGURE 1 )
Hydrosmecta sogamensis Paśnik 2001: 195 View in CoL ; Smetana 2004: 409; Schülke & Smetana 2015: 561.
Redescription. Length about 2.0 mm. Body parallel-sided and flattened dorsoventrally; surface glossy and densely pubescent, with fine microsculpture. Body dark brown; head and abdomen slightly darker than the other parts; antennae and legs paler, yellowish brown to brown. Head. Large and quadrate, about as wide as long, widest across eyes, about as long as pronotum and slightly narrower than pronotum; eye large and prominent, about 1.2 times as long as temple; gular sutures moderately separated, diverged basally; infraorbital carina absent. Antenna long and slender, longer than head and pronotum combined; all antennomeres elongate, 1 longest, 2 distinctly longer than 3, 11 slightly shorter than preceding two combined. Thorax. Pronotum subquadrate, approximately 1.1–1.2 times as wide as long, widest in apical third; pubescence directed anteriorly in median region; hypomeron fully visible in lateral view. Elytra slightly transverse, slightly wider than pronotum; elytron approximately 1.7 times as long as wide, pubescence directed posteriorly and postero-laterally; postero-lateral margin straight; hind wings fully developed. Legs slender and long, with pubescence and macrosetae; tibia with 2 spurs at apex; tarsal formula 4-5- 5, middle and hind tarsomeres 1–4 subequal in length. Abdomen. Parallel-sided, convergent at apex; surface fairly glossy and densely pubescent, with imbricate microsculpture; tergites III–V impressed in basal region; male tergite VIII with 4 macrosetae on each side of midline, posterior margin subtruncate; posterior margin of male sternite VIII broadly rounded. Aedeagus. Apical process of median lobe narrow subapically and rounded at apex in lateral view (fig. 10 in Paśnik 2001), paramere condyles expanded and prominent in ventral view.
Type material. Holotype, male, labeled as follows: ‘ Korea, Sokam: distr. Sunan leg. Pawlowski 8. 1971 ; HOLOTYPE Hydrosmecta sogamensis sp. n. det. G. Paśnik’ [ North Korea, Pyeongyang-si , Seokam-ri, viii 1971, J. Pawlowski] .
Distribution. Korea (North).
Remarks. This species was described by Paśnik (2001) from North Korea but no specimen has been collected in South Korea. We could not describe the mouthparts in detail because no specimen was available for dissection. For comparison with other Korean species, see the key above and under H. beolgokensis .
