Type citation:—“Anamallay Hills”, “In beds of streams below the Tangachee mallay, 5500 feet.”

Type:— INDIA. Anamallay [Anamalai] Hills, Beds of rivers, 6000 ft., s.d., Beddome 50 (lectotype K 000694947!, designated here)

Residual syntypes: — INDIA. Anamallay Hills , Beds of rivers, 5000 ft., s.d., Beddome s.n. ( MH! Accession no. 7864) ; Anamallay , 5000 ‒ 7000 ft., s.d., Beddome s.n. ( MH! Accession no. 7863) .

Distribution:— India, endemic (Kerala and Tamil Nadu).

Notes:—For his new species Impatiens tangachee, Beddome (1859) mentioned only locality in the protologue, but he did not mention collection dates and numbers. Three specimens collected by Beddome from Anamalai hills are extant, one at K (K000694947) and two at MH (Accession no. 7863 and 7864). The specimen K000694947, is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue and also in having dissected flower parts pasted on the sheet by Beddome.
