Iris peshmeniana Güner & T.Hall in Güner et al. (2012: 894), basionym. Holotype:— TURKEY. B7 Malatya province: Malatya-Pötürge arası, 35 km, Kubbe Geçidi, Șakșak Dağları, bozkır, metamorfik kayalık ve tașlık arazi, 38º15’02.2”N, 38º35’05.9”E, 1975 m elevation, 28 April 2009, A. Güner 15388, M. Johnson & F. Gülenç (NGBB002366 [digital image!]). Isotypes: ANK, E00680971 (digital image!), K001097441 (digital image!).

Observations:—A species endemic to central-eastern Turkey, growing on metamorphic rocky ground. It is akin to Juno aucheri , but differs by its shorter and falcate leaves; flowers 1–2, with cream-yellow perigone pieces sometimes provided with a deeper yellow mark; the claw with a ca. 3 mm wide band of yellow hairs alongside of middle line, only slightly tapering at base, the blade narrower than claw, broadly auricled at base, with a 2.5 mm high deep yellow crest (cfr. Güner et al. 2012). It should not be regarded as a colour variety of the group of J. aucheri , but a proper species with a unique combination of morphological characters and habitat.
