Thecla chaluma Schaus View in CoL – d’Abrera 1995: 1138.
Johnsonita sp. – Bálint 2003: 250.
Material examined. BOLIVIA: no locality, Oberthür coll. ( NHMUK: female).
Diagnosis. This species can be easily distinguished from other congener females on the basis of small size, round shaped FW and the deep tint blue dorsal wing surface colouration. Superficially, the closest species is J. chlamydem but its female is lighter and the submedian transverse dashes are doubled.
Note. The Bolivian specimen documented by d’Abrera (1995) was curated erroneously in the NHMUK under the name Thecla chaluma Jones, 1912 by Goodson ( Bálint 2005), who was not aware about the fact that it was a junior subjective synonym of Thecla hamila Schaus, 1902 , currently Denivia hamila (Schaus) Bálint & Moser, 2007 (cf. Bálint & Moser 2007, Martins et al. 2019). Hitherto the ocurrence of any Johnsonita was not formally recorded from Bolivia (cf. Gareca et al. 2009). There are recent records of Johnsonita taken in Bolivia, which confirms the occurrence of the genus in the Bolivian Andes (Faynel, pers. comm.).
