Nomenclatural notes:—In the protologue, Klotzsch & H. Karsten in Klotzsch (1847) quoted: “In palmetis Colonia Tovar Columbiae, Moritz n. 1619. Karsten (Coll. II.) n. 22”. Referring to the type of L. moritziana, Hansen (1980) wrote: Type. Syntypes: Moritz 1619, Venezuela, Colonia Tovar 1865 ( K, BM); Karsten 22, ibid. ( P). After analyzing all syntypes, we herein designate the specimen Moritz 1619 ( K barcode K 000640418) as the lectotype of L. moritziana , since it is the most representative of the morphological features described in the protologue
Taxonomic notes:— Langsdorffia moritziana is a heterotypic synonym of L. hypogaea Mart.
