Type locality. Pinar de Tirajana , Gran Canaria, Canary Islands .

Holotype: 1♀, April 1858, Gran Canaria (dark blue card-line), Pinal of Tirajana (above San Bartolome´), leg. Wollaston [Type] [ crassirostris , W.]. NHM, London.

Remarks. In his book on the Coleoptera of Morocco, Escalera (1914, p 405) comments in a footnote on ‘‘ Laparocerus conicirostris Woll. ’’ (an incorrect subsequent spelling) as having been collected in Morocco by von Fritsch and Rein and reported by Heyden (1887). However, Heyden only lists L. crassirostris as being collected by von Fritsch and Rein in Gran Canaria, where the species is endemic ( Heyden 1875).
