Lepidagathis boholensis Y.S.Liang, S.T.Geng, L.T.Evangelista & J.C.Wang View in CoL , nom. nov. ( Figs. 1–3 View FIGURE 1 View FIGURE 2 View FIGURE 3 )
Replaced name: Lepidagathis stenophylla Merrill (1926: 486) , not Lepidagathis stenophylla C.B.Clarke ex Hayata (1911: 214) . Type: — PHILIPPINES. Bohol:Sevilla River, Aug.–Oct.1923, M. Ramos 43317 (holotype:PNH destroyed; lectotype:UC here designated!;
isotypes: BO!, K!).
Etymology: —The specific epithet refers to the location of the type specimen.
Distribution: —Only known from Bohol Island, the Philippines.
Typification: —In the protologue, Merrill indicated that the holotype Ramos 43317 was designated in PNH herbarium which was destroyed during World War II. He also cited one isotype deposited in the herbarium of the University of California (UC). Hence the specimen in UC herbarium is selected as lectotype. During our examination, the authors also traced two un-cited isotypes in the herbaria BO and K.
Notes: — Lepidagathis boholensis is obviously different from all other Lepidagathis in the Philippines by its narrowly lanceolate leaves and suffrutescent stems. Here, the image of the type specimen of L. stenophylla C.B.Clarke ex Hayata is also provided for comparison ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ).
