Lasiodites Jelínek

The genus Lasiodites was proposed by Jelínek (1999) based on the type species Nitidula picta Macleay and including 38 Old World species, most of which were formerly placed in Lasiodactylus Perty, 1830 , and Lordites Erichson, 1843 . Kirejtshuk & Kvamme (2002) considered the group to be a subgenus of Phenolia (see above) and revised the 27 species occurring in Africa, Madagascar and surrounding islands. In addition, there are 15 species of Lasiodites occurring from Japan to Southeast Asia, Malaysia, India, Pakistan and Indonesia, while the type species occurs throughout this range, as well as in Madagascar, Réunion, Nossi-Bé, the Seychelles and Christmas Island. This author has seen no species of this genus from mainland Australia, but Lasiodites pictus (Macleay) occurs on Christmas Island, Indian Ocean, and a highly modified species occurs on Mt. Gower and Mt. Lidgbird, Lord Howe Island, NSW.
