NOTES: Penzig (1898: 77) wrote “Hr. Lister besitzt ähnliche, von der Stammform wohl zu unterscheidende Exemplare auch aus Texas (Brit. Mus. 841, A) und aus Nord-Amerika (leg. Rex ), sowie aus England (Highcliff).—Ich fand diese Varietät, zusammen mit der typischen Form, in der Nähe von Tjibodas, auf Rinden.”. [Lister has duplicates, different from the typical form, from Texas (Brit. Mus. 841, A), North America (Leg. Rex ), and England (Highcliff).—I found this variety, alongside the typical form, near Tjibodas on bark.]
In BM there are two collections, one with the number 841a fromTexas that we designated as the lectotype. The other from Rex , mentioned in the original description, we consider them it to be a syntype. We did not locate the material from Java (Buitenzorg, Tjibodas) mentioned by Penzig with reference to the notebook XV: 59–67, nor the collection from Highcliff ( England) with notes in notebook VIII: 36. No slides located. These material maybe located ilsewhere and so we have not designated a lectotype. This var. tessellatum described “with tessellated surface as in mosaic” is currently included in the species concept of Lycogala confusum Nann. -Bremek ex Ing.
