MATERIAL EXAMINED. — Brazil. Roraima &tate, IQha de Maracá, 1 paratype ( AMNH 137372).

Venezuela. Amazona& &tate, Coyo?a-Terri, 1 &pec. ( MHNLS 14471).

DISTRIBUTION ( Fig. 5 ). — Mabuya carvalhoi ha& been reported from the &outhea&tern border of the Amazona& &tate in VenezueQa (MoQina 1998) and from Roraima &tate in BraziQ (Rebouça&-Spieker & VanzoQini 1990).

DIAGNOSIS. — Mabuya ?ith fu&ed prefrontaQ& and frontoparietaQ&, parietaQ pQate& in contact?ith each other

behind the interparietaQ pQate, three to four pair& of nuchaQ&. Four &upraciQiarie&, the fir&t u&uaQQy the Qonge&t. PaQm& and &oQe& Qight coQoured, but &caQe& on the&e area& often?ith a darker margin. Body?ith &ix QongitudinaQ dark &tripe&; t?o dor&aQ &tripe& running from &upraocu- Qar& &caQe& to the ba&e of the taiQ?here they fu&e, t?o dor&oQateraQ &tripe& and t?o QateraQ &tripe&.

( EBRG 3797). — Sucre &tate, Turumiquire ma&&if, hoQotype ( AMNH 29314); EQvecia, Turumiquire ma&&if, 3 &pec& ( CM 7978, 7982, 7988); Turumiquire ma&&if, 10 &pec& ( FMNH 17796, 17797, 17798-428 to 17798-430, 17799-434 to 17799-438).

DISTRIBUTION ( Fig. 5 ). — Mabuya croizati &eem& to be endemic to the Turimiquire ma&&if in northea&tern VenezueQa. Thi& &pecie& i& reported for the fir&t time in the Anzoategui &tate, in the?e&tern part of the Turimiquire ma&&if (EBRG 3797).

DIAGNOSIS. — Mabuya ?ith paired prefrontaQ& and fu&ed frontoparietaQ&, parietaQ pQate& in contact?ith each other behind the interparietaQ pQate, t?o to four pair& of nuchaQ&. Five, rareQy &ix, &upraciQiarie& &ubequaQ in &ize. PaQm& and &oQe& dark coQoured. Body?ith &ix QongitudinaQ dark &tripe&; t?o dor&aQ &tripe& running from &uprana&aQ& or frontona&aQ, to the ba&e of the taiQ?here they fu&e, t?o dor&oQateraQ &tripe& and t?o QateraQ &tripe&.

REMARKS

Mabuya croizati i& geographicaQQy &eparated from it& pre&umabQy &i&ter &pecie&, M. carvalhoi , by Qo?Qand& and the Orinoco River. Steyermark (1966) recognized that the fQora of the Turimiquire ma&&if &hare& many &pecie&?ith the VenezueQan Guyana. Such correQated ob&ervation& &ugge&t that tho&e t?o bioregion& couQd have been in contact in the pa&t.
