Megalopinus lemur Puthz View in CoL
( Figs 7–12 View FIGURES 7–12 )
Megalopinus lemur Puthz, 1974: 331 View in CoL .
Material studied: CE Madagascar: 1 ♂, 1 ♀, Andasibe N. P., Aventure trail, -18.9356 / 48.4154, ~ 1000 m, 05.04.2019, rainforest, from vegetation, leg. M. Wanat ( MNHW) GoogleMaps .
Aedeagus ( Figs 10−12 View FIGURES 7–12 ) relatively slender; AeL 0.73 mm; median lobe drop-shaped, broadest near basal third and strongly, almost evenly narrowing toward rounded and slightly asymmetrical apex, endophallus in ventral view ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 7–12 ) with two symmetrical pairs of darkly sclerotized, overlapping structures; proximal pair strongly divergent toward base of aedeagus and composed of subtriangular sclerites, distal pair divergent toward apex of aedeagus, distally each of its sclerites bifurcate; parameres slender, each with 5–6 apical and subapical setae.
Remarks. This species was previously known from a single female; the newly found male does not differ from female in external structures and is externally indistinguishable from the holotype (seen as a high-resolution photograph with a scale bar). The holotype was collected in Fampanambo, near the northern tip of the island; the new finding extends the distribution of this species over 400 km SW, to the central-eastern region of Madagascar.
