Diagnosis. The new species is characterized by the aedeagus with several curved, belt-shaped sclerites and some fine spines distally. It is similar to M. bicornea sp. nov. in the male genitalia, and the differences between them are stated in the diagnosis of the preceding species.
Description. Adult ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 15–20 ). Forewing length 6.5‾7.0 mm.
Head black, yellow along dorsal margin of eye and lateral margin of occiput, vertex tipped with greyish yellow. Labial palpus yellow, with black scales on outer surface of first and second segments; second segment with a black ring distally; third segment 2/3 as long as second segment, with dense black scales medially. Antenna with scape yellow except black on anterior and posterior margins; flagellum black, annulated with yellow on ventral surface.
Thorax black, yellow laterally; tegula black, yellow apically. Forewing broad lanceolate, costal margin slightly arched, apex pointed; ground colour black; costal margin with a diffused small yellow spot at base, inner yellow spot placed before middle, crossing anterior margin of cell, outer yellow costal spot at distal 1/4, largest of three costal spots; dorsal yellow spot large, diffused to posterior margin of cell; fold with a black spot at distal 2/5, bordered by yellow scales; cell with a black spot at basal 3/5, surrounded by inner yellow costal spot, with black spot at anterior and posterior angles respectively, between two black spots situated a large yellow spot; yellow dots from beyond outer yellow spot of costal margin along termen to posterior angle of termen; fringe greyish brown, with a yellow basal line extending from around apex to before tornus. Hindwing and fringe pale grey. Legs yellow; on ventral surface, fore coxa with black scales, tibiae of fore- and midlegs black except yellow apically, hind tibia greyish black except yellow apically, tarsi of fore- and midlegs black except yellow at apices of basal two tarsomeres, hind tarsus greyish black except yellow at apex of each tarsomere.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 42 View FIGURES 37–42 ). Uncus long and slender, heavily sclerotized, hooked apically. Gnathos heavily sclerotized laterally, right-angled posterolaterally, narrowed straightly downward, widely apart anteriorly. Tegumen evenly wide medially, sclerotized along anterior margin; lateral arm slightly narrowed anteriorly. Valva sub-triangular, narrow at base, widened to basal half, with sparse long setae in costal half, distal half dilated ovately, densely setose, rounded at apex; ventral margin with a heavily sclerotized band, concave medially, bifurcate apically, forming two cornuted processes: dorsal process curved downward and pointed at apex, ventral process shorter; costa shallowly concave at middle; transtilla narrow, joined medially by a slender straight membranous band, with long setae, produced dorsally before median band. Sacculus short, rectangular, shorter than wide, not separated from valva; apex heavily sclerotized, forming a band narrowed toward ventroapical corner. Saccus narrowed from base to pointed apex, same length as uncus. Juxta narrow, arched in V-shape. Aedeagus stout, nearly twice as long as valva; widened from narrow base to before basal 2/5; distal 3/5 with several curved, belt-shaped sclerites acute apically, with some fine spines distally; cornutus clavate, placed distally, about 1/3 length of aedeagus.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 53 View FIGURES 52–56 ). Papillae anales sub-rectangular, shorter than wide, setose. Apophyses anteriores approximately half length of apophyses posteriores. Eighth tergite straight on posterior margin, slightly concave on anterior margin. Eighth sternal plate spiculate; posterior margin shallowly concave at middle, with long setae. Lamella postvaginalis sinuate and dentate on posterior margin, concave posterior to middle laterally, roundly produced on anterior margin. Lamella antevaginalis with dorsal surface semicircular, triangularly produced to a point posterolaterally; ventral surface band-shaped, laterally extended and joined with lamella postvaginalis. Antrum short, laterally narrowed triangularly. Ductus bursae sclerotized except shortly membranous near corpus bursae. Corpus bursae elliptical, granulous; ductus seminalis from posterior of corpus bursae, dilated basally; signum absent.
Distribution. China (Yunnan).
Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the Latin taeniophyllus, referring to the sclerotized irregular belts in distal 3/5 of the aedeagus.
