ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1869a: 17 (key), 18 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus ditionis parmensis … in Pedemontio [Parmese hills … Piedmont ( Italy)]”.
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, lectotype ( MZUF: Box 30): Melieria Desv. / subapennina Rnd., Apenn. [= Apennines] / 1602 / Holotypus [incorrectly labeled] Melieria subapennina Rnd. , ♀, desig. Á. Soós, 1978.
PARALECTOTYPES NOT EXAMINED: 4 ♂♂ ( MRSN): 21 66 / Melieria Desv. subapennina Rond., Ivrea ; 3 ♀♀ ( MRSN): 21 66 / Melieria Desv. subapennina Rond., Ivrea ; 1 ♀ ( MRSN): 21 66 / 124 / Melieria Desv. subapennina Rond., Ivrea [= Ivrea (Piedmont)].
CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Hypochra subapennina ( Soós 1984c: 50, Belcari et al. 1995b: 6); valid species, as Melieria (Hypochra) subapennina ( Kameneva 1997: 34) .
REMARKS: Rondani (1869a: 18) described Melieria subapennina without specifying the number, the sex or the length of the specimens he had collected and also received from L. Bellardi. Soós (1983: 256) designated a lectotype (♀) but did not mention an additional eight specimens in the MRSN (all are paralectotypes).
