ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1862d: 210.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ In Gallia boreali [in boreal (= northern) Gallia (= France)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype (missing left fore-leg) ( MZUF: Box 21): Mesembrina Mgn / matutina Rnd. , ♀, Gall. bor. [= Gallia boreali (northern Gallia)] / 1127 .
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Mesembrina mystacea (Linnaeus, 1758) View in CoL ( Pont 1986b: 85, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 11).
REMARKS: Rondani (1862d: 210) described Mesembrina matutina from a single female: “ unicum exemplar foemineum mihi notum … mihi transmissa a clar. Macquartio [I know a single female … sent to me by Mr. Macquart]”. P.J.M. Macquart had identified this specimen as Mesembrina mystacea (Linnaeus, 1758) ( Rondani 1862d: 210) .
