Material

H  : female, Papua New Guinea, Rogut Gorok , 2200 m, 18–23 September 1985 ( T. Anderson, leg. R. S. George —3-140) ( UMZC) .

Etymology Named after the country of the type locality.

Diagnosis

Abdominal tergite 5 with an approximately semicircular anterior flap; T 4 about as wide as long; well-developed antial, anterolateral and pre-ocellar bristles between four supra-antennals and three ocelli.

Female

Frons brown, with pair of ocellars and pair of well-developed bristles each side on vertex. Third antennal segment brown, without SPS vesicles and with long-haired arista. Palps with distal part swollen, as dark as third antennal segment, with seven (five long and two short) bristles and twice as many hairs. Broad yellowish brown labrum and short pale labella. Thorax brown but paler on sides. Three bristles on notopleuron. Scutellum with anterior pair of fine hairs and posterior pair of bristles. Abdominal tergites brown with small hairs. T 1– T 3 clearly broader than long, but T 1 divided along midline. T 4– T 5 as figure 52D. T 6 similar to figure 52C, but with a few hairs on posterior third, which broadens a little towards rear margin. Anterior margin of T 10, between the apodemes, largely comprising a median pointed triangular process. Venter brownish grey with pale intersegmental bands. Hairs below segments 3–6, on flanks at rear of 5 and all faces of 6. Cerci whitish yellow and with fine hairs, the longest being subequal to length of cercus. Internally, furca is a pale irregular hoop. Legs whitish yellow lightly tinged greyish brown. Front basitarsus about 5× as long as broad, only segments 1–3 with posterodorsal hair palisade, and segments 4 and 5 subequal in length. Posterior face of hind femur with faint microsculpture of chickenwire polygons in distal third but otherwise seemingly smooth. Basitarsus wth five distinct combs and three apical setae. Wing length 0.8–0.9 mm. Costal index 0.50–0.51. Costal ratios 0.64:1. Costal cilia 0.03 mm long. Costa at most as thick as vein 3. Veins brown to pale brown, but costa and vein 3 more pale yellowish, and vein 7 obscure. Membrane lightly tinged grey. Haltere brown.
