Material Examined. 1 female ( NTUC): ‘‘ LAOS: Phongsali 14–16.V.1996, leg. C.F. Lee / reared from larva’ ’; 20 larvae ( NTUC, NHMW), same data as preceding .
Adult Diagnosis. Elytron with 5 visible striae ( Fig. 11 View Fig ): striae 1–4 arising from near base, stria 2 apically conjoined with stria 3, and then apically conjoined with stria 1, striae 1 and 4 apically abbreviated near apex; stria 5 arising from basal 1/4, divided into two striae at middle, and apically abbreviated at apical 4/9; granules irregularly distributed along apex. Lastinstar Larval Diagnosis. Body form elongately oblong ( Fig. 1); widest at first abdominal segment, apically tapering. Thoracic terga densely and finely pubescent ( Fig. 4 View Figs ). Disposable cuticular tissue filling crevices between thoracic and abdominal pleurites, and forming two paired longitudinal ridges on dorsal surface of abdominal segments ( Figs. 2, 3, 5 View Figs ). Lateral margins of meso and metathoracic segments with recurved, hooklike pleurites; lateral margins of abdominal segments 1–7 with slender, parallelsided pleurites ( Fig. 1). Outward margins of prothorax with dense marginal hairlike setae, only one pair on apical margins of pleurites of meso and metathoracies and abdominal segments 1–7 ( Figs. 6–8 View Figs ). Lanceolate basal setae also present on outward margin of prothorax, apical margins of pleurites of pro, meso and metathoracies, and abdominal segments 1–7; setae on prothorax much smaller than others. Number of setae reduced to 3 on abdominal segment 1 ( Fig. 6 View Figs ); 2 on other segments ( Fig. 8 View Figs ). Anterior and posterior margins of meso and metathoracies, abdominal segments 1–8 without setae. Pleurites of abdominal segment 8 with a pair of lanceolate setae near apices ( Fig. 10 View Figs ); each process directed outward, not close to abdominal segment 9. Abdominal segment 9 shorter than its pleurites, margined with setae and long hairlike setae ( Fig. 9 View Figs ). Apical spiracles on abdominal segment 8 and spiracular brushes on segment 9 reduced ( Fig. 10 View Figs ).
Biology. All larvae were collected from a water fall, where water current was very slow. In addition to larvae of Microeubria , larvae and adults of Schinostethus (Sundodrupeus) albosulcus Lee et al. (1998) were also collected from the same habitat.
