GENUS GLYPTOPTERYX GEBIEN, 1910 , SENS. NOV.

= Microselinus Koch, 1956 syn. nov. Type species: Microselinus muelleri Koch, 1956 ; by original designation.

= Quadrideres Koch, 1956 syn. nov. Type species: Ancholphthalmus scutatus Gerstäecker, 1871 ; by original designation.

= Synquadrideres Iwan, 2003 syn. nov. Type species: Synquadrideres naivashaensis Iwan, 2003 ; by original designation.

Type species: Selinus quadricollis Fairmaire, 1887 ; by monotypy.

Diagnostic characters: Glyptopteryx sens. nov. most closely resembles Phymatoplata as they share the following features: deep anterior tentorial pits that are clearly visible as longitudinal grooves (character 0:2), and parallel basal halves of the lateral pronotal and elytral sides (character 14:1, 23:1). Glyptopteryx sens. nov. can be distinguished from Phymatoplata by having a short third antennomere (character 5:1) and elytral humeri strongly protruding towards the front of the body (character 24:1). Moreover, species of Phymatoplata (unlike Glyptopteryx sens. nov.) have coarse tubercles on the elytral intervals.

Distribution: Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Species composition (23 species): Glyptopteryx elegans (Koch, 1956) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx femineus ( Lesne, 1922) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx interioris (Gebien, 1911) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx kaszabi (Kamin´ ski, 2013a) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx lesnei (Koch, 1956) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx lineatus (Koch, 1956) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx luigii (Iwan, 2006) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx medius ( Iwan, 2003) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx merkli ( Iwan, 2003) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx modestus ( Lesne, 1922) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx montiskeniae (Koch, 1956) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx muelleri (Koch, 1956) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx naivashaensis ( Iwan, 2003) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx quadricollis ( Fairmaire, 1887) , Glyptopteryx rex (Kamin´ ski, 2013a) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx robynsi (Koch, 1956) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx ruandanus (Koch, 1956) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx schoutedeni (Koch, 1956) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx scutatus ( Gerstäecker, 1871) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx simplicipes ( Gebien, 1910) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx stigmaticollis (Koch, 1956) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx witteanus (Koch, 1956) comb. nov., Glyptopteryx volcanicus (Koch, 1956) comb. nov.
