Description. Body clothed in long dense setae. Head with scales on frons flat. Pronotum without pattern, lateral margins strongly convex. Elytra blue, without pattern. Legs with front tibial apex flat, tibial brush elongate, hind tibial apex truncate. Median lobe curved. Endophallus with basal lobe not recurved and distended, dorsal lobe present strongly divided, distal projection present highly conical, endophallus terminal not recurved, median ventral lobe absent, middle thick, position of ventral apical lobe low, subapical lobe free, ventral apical lobe present, not pointed ventrally, shape conical, transfer apparatus weakly sclerotized. Spermatheca with basal lobes of relatively equal lengths.

HOLOTYPE, (male): CA: Inyo Co. Death Valley National Monument, Racetrack Valley, sand dunes, 3900ft., 7 April 1983, Derham Giuliani coll. ( CDFA).

Distribution. ( Fig. 19 View FIGURE 19 ) This species is endemic to sand dunes of the Race Track Valley in Death Valley National Park, near Ubehebe Peak.

Etymology. This epithet is designated to reflect the geographic location of this species found only in the sand dunes bordered by Ubehebe Peak.

Intra- and interspecific morphological variation. Miloderes ubehebensis is similar to M. nelsoni except for the shape of the endophallus. The dorsal lobes are more pronounced in M. ubehebensis and the central portion of the endophallus is not as expanded. Individual color variation is similar to that of M. nelsoni but individuals of M. ubehebensis tend to be bluer in color.
