Rissoa gradatula Mörch, 1876: 53 −54.

Rissoa toroensis Olsson & McGinty, 1958: 26 , pl. 4, fig. 5. Abbott 1974: 71, not illustrated. Synonymized by Faber (2005).

Odostomia toroensis: Rios 1985: 164 View in CoL , pl. 54, fig. 780, drawing of holotype reproduced.

Chrysallida toroensis: Jong and Coomans 1988: 123 View in CoL , pl. 9, fig. 648. Rios 1994: 188, pl. 61, fig. 875, drawing of holotype reproduced. Redfern 2001: 143, pl. 65, fig. 593.

Mumiola gradatula ( Mörch, 1876) View in CoL : Faber 2005: 87, figs. 3−8. lectotype and paralectotypes illustrated.

Type and type locality: lectotype and two paralectotypes designated by Faber (2005): Riise collection, Zoologisk Museum, Copenhagen (fide Faber, 2005), St. Thomas; holotype of Rissoa toroensis : ANSP 211885, paratype ANSP 211886, Bocas Island ( Fig. 48 View FIGURES 48 − 50 ).

Material examined: the holotype of Rissoa toroensis and: --West Indies: ZMA, Curaçao, Jong coll. [3]; ZMA, Aruba, F. Ferberne coll. [22]; -- Brazil: --Pernambuco State: MNHN, Cabo (enseada dos corais) [1]; MNHN, Recife (praia de Candeias) [1]; IBUFRJ 11155, Ilha Rata, Fernando de Noronha Archipel, 08.vii.1999, eq. Malaco coll. [1]; --Bahia State: IBUFRJ 6373, Abrolhos Archipel, 1990, P. M. Costa coll. [1]; --Espírito Santo State: IBUFRJ 8702, off Piúma, 1993 [1].

Remarks: Mumiola gradatula ( Figs. 48−50 View FIGURES 48 − 50 ) has been reported from northeast Brazil by Rios (1994), as well as from other localities in the western Atlantic (e.g., Jong and Coomans, 1988; Redfern, 2001) as Chrysallida toroensis . Rissoa gradatula is an older, valid name, according to Faber (2005: figs. 4, 7) who illustrated its holotype, and should be allocated to the pyramidellid genus Mumiola . Herein, we illustrate the holotype of Rissoa toroensis ( Fig. 48 View FIGURES 48 − 50 ) and a shell from Brazil ( Figs. 49−50 View FIGURES 48 − 50 ).

The known geographical range of M. gradatula is now enlarged to southeast Brazil, off the state of Espírito Santo (≅19°S).
