Myostoma microcera Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 sensu Rondani, 1856: 83 .

REMARKS: misidentification. Rondani (1856: 83) considered Myostoma microcera Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 as the type species of the genus Myostoma Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 . Rondani (1862d: 54) in his redescription of Myostoma microcera referred to Macquartia microcera sensu Meigen (1838: 231) . Pandellé (1896: 155) listed Myostoma microcera sensu Rondani as a junior synonym of Dexia maritima (Schiner, 1861) . Bezzi & Stein (1907: 440) considered Myostoma microcera sensu Rondani as a valid species and as a senior synonym of Billaea maritima (Schiner, 1861) . Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993: 359) considered it as a misidentification of Billaea maritima . O’Hara et al. (2011: 211) considered the name Myostoma microcera as available. We consider Myostoma microcera sensu Rondani as an unavailable name since Rondani did not use it as type species of a new nominal genus (I.C.Z.N. 1999: Article 11.10). Under the name Myostoma microcera Robineau-Desvoidy we found one female (Box C) in the MZUF and one male and one female in the MSNC.

REMARKS: nomen nudum. Rondani (1861e: 154) indicated having described a species with this name in 1860 but he never described it. Neera is an unjustified emendation of Neaera Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 125).

REMARKS: nomen nudum; Macquart (1848: 121) cited an unpublished Rondani name. Rondani (1859b: 72) wrote “ N. conjuncta Rndn. ” in the key of the genus of Nemorea Macquart, 1834 while in the redescription (p. 72) he stated that the species had been described by Macquart (1848: 121).

REMARKS: misidentification. Rondani (1862d: 57) redescribed Phorostoma subrotunda Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 , erroneously indicating it as subrotundata . Herting (1969: 201) reported that Rondani intended to redescribe Phorostoma subrotundata Robineau-Desvoidy 1830 , but according to him Rondani actually described a new species and therefore Herting attributed Phorostoma subrotundata to Rondani. Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993: 358) considered Phorostoma subrotundata as a misidentification under the nominal species Billaea adelpha (Loew, 1873) . O’Hara et al. (2011) did not list this nominal species.

REMARKS: nomen nudum; Morge (1959b: 89) cited an unpublished Rondani name.

[ Proboscista colligata ] Rondani, 1861e: 60.

REMARKS: name that Rondani (1861e: 60) proposed as a synonym of Fischeria bicolor Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 and was not made available by use as a valid species before 1961. Bezzi & Stein (1907) did not include Proboscista colligata in the catalog of Palaearctic Diptera . Herting (1984: 131) and Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993: 344) considered the name as unavailable. O’Hara et al. (2011: 151, 208) considered the genus Proboscista as unavailable, but incorrectly treated Proboscista colligata Rondani as available.

REMARKS: name that Rondani (1856: 67) proposed as a synonym of Tachina unicolor ( Fallén, 1820) because he wrote the name Tachina inequalis under that of Tachina unicolor , his convention for names he considered as synonyms. This name was not made available by use as a valid species before 1961. Rondani (1859b: 153) listed Tachina unicolor but not Tachina inequalis . Bezzi & Stein (1907: 356) considered Tachina inequalis (as inaequalis) as a junior synonym of Tachina . unicolor . O’Hara et al. (2011: 149) considered the name Tachina inequalis (as inaequalis) as an “unnecessary new replacement name for Tachina unicolor Fallen, 1820 ”. It is not included in Herting (1969) or Herting & Dely-Draskovits (1993).
