= Nectria canadensis Ellis & Everh., Bull. Torrey Bot. View in CoL Club 11: 74. 1884.
Description and illustration:— Hirooka et al. (2012) and Zhuang (2013).
Habitat:—On the bark of dead Ulmus americana and Ulmus sp. ( Ulmaceae ).
Distribution:—Asia ( China), Canada, USA.
Notes:— Nectria canadensis was initially reported on Ulmus in Canada and the United States and was re-described by Rossman (1983). The name used for this species in the monograph of Nectria by Hirooka et al. (2012) and Zhuang (2013) is Nectria canadensis . Rossman et al. (2013) later revealed that N. canadensis has an earlier epithet in the genus Ciliciopodium Corda 1831 . That genus was based on C. violaceum Corda 1831 , described from dog feces, and is not congeneric with Nectria ( Seifert1985) . Given the obscurity of this species, it seems reasonable to accept using the earliest epithet, N. grayana .
