Key to the Nemeritis species occurring in New World

1 Area superomedia almost pentagonal, about 0.8× as long as its maximum width, apically opened, confluent with area petiolaris, coriaceous and matte ( Fig. 3F ); ovipositor about 3.0× as long as hind tibia ( Fig. 3A ); tegula, all coxae and trochanters black, hind tibia reddish–brown, slightly lighter in the middle on inner side, darker basally, apically and on the outer side. South America ( Chile)….......................................................... Nemeritis scaramozzinoi sp. nov.

- Area superomedia posteriorly parallel-side or expanded, merged with area petiolaris, with more or less shiny background ( Figs. 1B , 2D ); ovipositor shorter; tegula yellow, hind coxa and trochanter red to brownish, hind tibia palered. North America….. 2
